How to Train Your Audience to Buy on Social Media!

When I discovered you could make money on Social Media...something I used blew my mind. Honestly, it STILL blows my mind every time I see a Paypal or Stripe notification.

But it didn't always come easy. For months I watched others sell out of every course, product, and be booked out for months. And I wondered...what's their SECRET?

What’s the trick to getting your followers to support EVERYTHING you do?

I was doing it all wrong. So caught up in numbers and followers, instead of capitalizing on what I ALREADY had. The people that had ALREADY made the decision to follow me and be apart of what I was doing.  

Often times when I speak with business owners and they tell me their Social Media goal is to have MORE followers… but what they REALLY want it more REVENUE, and the two are not always mutually exclusive.

So what's the secret????

Not only are our favorites great at sales (because, business) but, they’ve also TRAINED their audience to buy.

Let’s take Jenna Kutcher for example. I follow her for tips, tricks, inspiration, but I also FULLY anticipate her selling something to me, and there’s a great chance that it is something I NEED.

The same goes for you audience. I’m sure they’re not following for kicks and giggles. You have something they NEED and/or WANT. They’re literally waiting on you to give it to them.

“You have not because you ask not.”

You. Have. To. Ask. You have a business, and business runs off of sales. If you’re NOT selling, you don’t have a business. My rule of thumb is 80% engagement, 20% sales. Simple.

1. Engagement.

I know, I know. You’re sick of hearing about engagement, BUT if people aren’t engaging with you, they surely won’t BUY from you. I know what our audience wants and needs because they TELL us. They ask us questions. They interact with us.

Build a community.

Be transparent. Be helpful. Add value. Reply to every comment. Comment on others photos. This makes you more REAL and people only buy from people they TRUST.


2. (CTA’s) or Call To Actions.

Last week I changed all the CTA’s in my bios to direct people to my discovery call link. I ended up with a total of 10 discovery calls, 7 proposals sent, and 4 new client contracts. Why? Because people like to told what to do.

How often do we like a picture and keep scrolling? But if that picture says “Tell me what book your reading currently” you’re more likely to engage!

We have to make sure we are controlling our Social Media presence, and not letting it control us.

CTA’s are vital because they give your audience direction, increase engagement, and gives you insight on what THEY want to hear from you!  


3. The Copy.

Copy refers to the verbiage we use, which encourages consumers to buy goods or services. It is a LARGE piece of the puzzle. The goal is to evoke emotion from the reader to encourage them to buy. Go to your favorite business owners social media right now and take a look at not WHAT they say, but HOW they say it. Here’s an example of good and bad copy.


Bad:  “My new content planner is ready, and ONLY $19.99 for a limited time! They’re probably going to sell out so get yours ASAP!”

Good: “6 months ago I was tired, making no profit, and honestly burnt OUT. I had run into a problem that many entrepreneurs encounter…. No strategy. Spinning my wheels. So, I created the “Content Planner.” It perfectly outlines WHAT i'm promoting and WHEN. I have more time, and my sales have increased by 200% (yes, 200%!!) They key is to be transparent, address your audiences pain points, and provide a solution.
