How To Use LinkedIn To Grow Your Business-- Without Spending Money
That Feeling When..
You Finally Master LinkedIn!
Up until the past year, I can confess we've had a love/hate relationship, consisting of mostly hate. What's even more ironic is that I have a recruiting background and use the platform quite frequently! I'd always get questions like, "I've been messaging recruiters and I don't hear anything back, am I using it correctly??" Or, "How do I find my ideal client on LinkedIn, it's so difficult to filter through!" The most frustrating part for me, however, was that they started charging for everythinggggg (See the "Business Solutions" they provide below).
And I wish I could tell you all if it is worth the investment, but I've never tried it, and none of the companies I've worked with as a recruiter have seen the value either. Luckily, I found a work around! And for FREE.99!
LinkedIn is a SOCIAL networking platform. Just like Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat. The only difference is that it is specifically for Business and employment.
And the KEY to social media platforms is....ENGAGEMENT! Sales of any kind will always be about building relationships and gaining trust, whether that be selling a product or service, or selling yourself for a job. So here's the HOW:
1. Expect Delayed Gratification
I almost listed this last, but I want it to be clear on what you're heading into. Social Media is delayed gratification. Period. No one starts an account, and are wildly popular the next day. Many successful people that you see online have been consistent for YEARS. You will have to put in the work to yield results.

2. Share Your Insight and Establish Your Expertise
Who are you, and what do you do? LinkedIn is about information. Here are some ways to establish your expertise;
- Share or write articles related to your field to educate your audience.
- Connect, connect, connect. There's nothing faux-pas about connecting with people you don't know like there was in the early stages of LinkedIn.
- Like, share, and comment on others post.
- Create engaging content.
- Join the conversations, this will increase your visibility to potential clients!
- Share client stories and successes!
3. Learn From The Best
Thought leaders, CEO's, Philanthropist, Entrepreneurs, and numerous others are on LinkedIn sharing their expertise. Take advantage of that. What type of content are they posting? How do they engage?
Engage in their post and gain visibility to an even larger audience.
4. Engage, Engage, Engage
Share, comment, and like others post. This will show up in all your connections feeds, again, increasing your visibility.
1+2+3+4 = MAKING $$$
Once you have established yourself and gained credibility and visibility to your audience, THEN you can start selling your services or products.
Message those that have shown interest in your content.
Use the search bar to find your ideal client, and connect with them.
Promote your products directly on your feed!
